Travel agents have benefited from rising sales prices, a healthy lates market and shorter call wait times with suppliers, leading to increased growth plans. ATOL has authorised 31.6m ATOL-protected packages for the year to September 2024, an increase of 20% year-on-year, which has helped assure customers through recent travel uncertainties. Airlines have seen profits soar, with both Ryanair and British Airways owner, IAG, announcing Q2 2023 profit increase of 400%. Yet, financial and operation challenges are still present.<\/p><p>Our travel sector report in October 2023 found that the average financial health rating, using data from the Company Watch database, was 38 out of a maximum of 100, compared to 37 in July 2021. While this is an improvement, this indicates that the entire sector is more vulnerable in financial terms than most others across the UK economy. The average for the whole economy is around 50 out of 100. The one positive statistic is that there has been a substantial improvement in the average health rating of our sample from a year ago, when the figure was only 33 out
