The Doncaster Free Press reports on the rescue of local bakery chain, Cooplands which was founded during Queen Victoria’s reign. The sale by the Administrators, Opus has kept the manufacturing bakery and all 29 retail units open and has preserved 150 jobs overall.
Administrator, Steve Parker commented:
“It would have been a tragedy if such a well-known local business as Cooplands had failed after being a fixture in its region ever since it was originally established in 1885. We are pleased to see it survive and continue to serve its loyal customer base.”
