The Client
The Drum was a national centre for black British arts and culture based in Birmingham and run by The Newtown Cultural Project Limited. It was dedicated to developing and promoting the art and culture of British African, Asian and Caribbean communities through programmes, training and education initiatives that support contemporary black arts practice in comedy, dance, digital arts, drama, literature, music, visual arts and media.
The Conclusion
As a result of income not rising in line with expenditure, we were brought in to advise the trustees on the charity’s financial position, which led to a managed wind-down and closure through a solvent liquidation.
One key aspect of this wind-down was the safe management of sensitive data and compliance with GDPR requirements.
