Opus Advisory Group has strengthened its Strategic Advisory division with the appointment of Tom Windett as Partner, specialising in Debt Advisory. Tom will work across Opus’ Bristol and London offices, advising business owners and management teams on a wide range of debt funding requirements, while supporting the continued growth of the Group’s advisory offering.
He brings extensive experience across corporate banking and debt advisory, having spent much of his career working with mid-market businesses. Tom began his career as a consultant, advising food and agribusiness companies, before moving into corporate banking, where he worked with both SME and larger corporate clients, including a number of major businesses across food manufacturing and agribusiness.
For the past six years, Tom has worked in independent debt advisory, advising predominantly privately owned and family-controlled mid-market businesses. His expertise covers a broad range of funding requirements, from working capital and business investment to acquisitions, property development and shareholder transactions, helping businesses secure the finance they need to support growth and navigate periods of change.
At Opus, Tom will work closely with colleagues across Strategic Advisory and the wider Group, including Opus’ Deal Advisory and Restructuring & Insolvency teams, to provide businesses and their owners with access to a complete range of funding solutions alongside the Group’s wider advisory capabilities.
He will also focus on developing relationships with businesses and professional advisers across London, Bristol and the South of England, complementing Opus’ growing advisory presence across the UK.
Tom said, “Opus has built a strong platform, and there is a significant opportunity to develop the debt advisory offering further, both by supporting existing clients and by building new relationships in the market. My background has always involved working closely with business owners and management teams to understand what they are trying to achieve and then finding the right funding solution to support that. That might be investment for growth, an acquisition, a shareholder transaction or simply ensuring the business has the right working capital structure in place.”
He continues, “There is a great deal of crossover between debt advisory and the work already being undertaken across Opus, and I’m looking forward to working with colleagues across the Group to build on that. The breadth of expertise within the business, combined with its independent approach, was a real attraction for me.”
Tim Dolder, Managing Partner at Opus Advisory Group, said, “Tom brings significant experience of both the banking and independent advisory markets and a strong understanding of the funding challenges and opportunities facing privately owned and mid-market businesses. His appointment adds further depth to our advisory capability and strengthens the support we can provide to businesses at every stage of their journey, whether they are looking to fund growth, complete a transaction, restructure existing facilities or navigate a period of change.
Tim concludes, “Tom’s relationship-led approach is also very much aligned with how we work at Opus. We are delighted to welcome him to the Group and look forward to seeing him play an important role in the continued development of our debt advisory offering.”
