Opus secures sale of innovative AI motion capture business to aim-listed group

Opus Restructuring & Insolvency has successfully completed the sale of innovative British technology company Move AI Limited to Vicon Motion Systems Limited, part of AIM-listed Oxford Metrics plc, securing the future of its pioneering AI-powered motion capture technology.

The transaction, completed on 30 September 2026, follows the appointment of Allister Manson and Bradley Parrott of Opus as Joint Administrators of Move AI, which had experienced financial difficulties following a sustained period of investment in research and development.

Move AI has developed advanced markerless motion capture technology, enabling human movement to be captured and translated into digital animation without the need for traditional motion capture suits or specialist markers. The technology has applications across gaming, entertainment and other industries, with Move AI having previously worked with leading video game developer Electronic Arts (EA).

Despite significant investment in developing its technology, Move AI had only recently begun commercialising its products and was unable to secure the further funding required to continue operating independently.

Following a competitive sales process managed by Gordon Brothers, Opus worked alongside the parties to complete the transaction within a challenging timeframe, ensuring the business and its intellectual property could be transferred to an established industry leader.

Vicon, a global leader in motion capture technology with more than 40 years of experience, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Oxford Metrics plc. The acquisition brings together Vicon’s established market presence and expertise with Move AI’s innovative AI and markerless motion capture capabilities, creating opportunities for further product development and commercial growth.

The sale also secured the transfer of all eight employees to Vicon, alongside the retention of a number of specialist contractors, while providing continuity for existing customers.

Allister Manson, Partner at Opus and Joint Administrator of Move AI, said, “Move AI had developed some genuinely exciting technology with significant potential, but like many innovative businesses, it faced the challenge of turning substantial investment in research and development into sustainable commercial revenues. Securing a buyer with the expertise, resources and established market position to take that technology forward was therefore particularly important.”

He continues, “We are delighted to have achieved a successful sale to Vicon, which provides an excellent opportunity for Move AI’s technology to continue developing and reaching new markets. The transaction also preserves employment and customer relationships, while delivering a positive outcome for creditors. Completing a transaction of this nature within such a tight timeframe required considerable collaboration between all parties, and we are pleased to have helped secure a future for the business and its innovative technology.”

Gary Bullard, Chairman & Interim CEO, Oxford Metrics, added, “Move AI has developed impressive markerless motion capture technology which complements our existing capabilities and expertise. We see significant potential in bringing together the strengths of both businesses to accelerate innovation and develop new solutions for our customers. We are pleased to welcome the Move AI team and look forward to building on the technology they have created.”
