The Joint Administrators, Gareth Wilcox, Trevor Binyon and Allister Manson are pleased to announce that a sale of the assets of Vynova Runcorn to INEOS Inovyn has been agreed, in a transaction that safeguards around 75 jobs and supports the long-term future of one of the UK’s key chlor-alkali manufacturing sites.
The transaction includes the sale of Vynova’s assets, including its EDC Plant, together with its 50% shareholding in the joint venture company, Runcorn MCP Limited. The purchaser, INOVYN ChlorVinyls Limited, is the existing landlord of the site and Vynova’s joint venture partner.
The sale remains subject to necessary legal and regulatory approvals, with completion expected by 31 October 2026.
The deal is expected to preserve approximately 75 jobs through the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations (TUPE), while providing greater certainty over the long-term viability of the wider Runcorn manufacturing site.
Gareth Wilcox, Executive Partner at Opus, said,
“This transaction represents an excellent outcome for creditors, the employees, and the wider Runcorn site. By securing a purchaser that already has a significant presence on site and a long-term commitment to its future, we have been able to preserve skilled jobs and help safeguard an important industrial facility.” He continues, “Transactions of this nature require close collaboration between multiple stakeholders, and we are pleased to have supported a solution that provides stability for employees while creating a platform for the site’s future.”
Opus advised throughout the transaction, working alongside all parties to achieve a solution that balances the interests of employees, creditors and the long-term future of the business.
