Four Seasons finances: comment by Opus on UK’s largest care home operator in the FT

Our Business Risk Advisor, Nick Hood gives his thoughts on the stretched finances of Four Seasons, which provides around 4% of the UK’s residential care beds in article by Gill Plimmer in the FT.

“It’s encouraging that Four Seasons is getting at least some traction with extracting higher fees from local authorities, but a further increase in its bottom line losses in the latest quarter demonstrates that there are fundamental flaws in its business model, which only a major financial and operational restructuring can have any hope of putting right.

“Like so many care home operators, large and small, it has problems at virtually every line in its revenue statement and all over its balance sheet.”
