Opus Forensic Accounting has announced the appointment of Paul Widger FCA as Director in the firm’s Manchester office. Paul will lead the continued development of Opus’ forensic accounting offering in Manchester, further strengthening the firm’s national disputes and investigations capability.
Joining Paul in the Forensic Accounting division is Carolyn Plummer, who brings extensive experience in personal-injury forensic accounting. Both join Opus from a major global law firm.
Paul joins following a decade-long tenure in the firm where he established and ultimately led its in-house forensic accounting practice, advising on a wide range of complex commercial disputes, investigations, and contentious valuations, and working closely with partners and counsel across the full lifecycle of matters.
Before his in-house role, Paul spent eleven years in the audit and forensic accounting teams of a top-10 accountancy firm, where he gained extensive multi-sector experience in financial investigations, quantification and independent business reviews.
At Opus, Paul will launch and grow the firm’s forensic accounting practice in Manchester, complementing its established forensic teams in London, Leeds, Liverpool, Birmingham, and Bristol. His appointment further enhances Opus’ ability to support clients and instruct lawyers nationwide with independent forensic and quantum expertise.
Nicholas Parton, Head of Forensic Accounting, Opus. comments: “Paul’s background is exceptional. Having led an in-house forensic accounting practice at a global law firm, he brings a deep understanding of what lawyers need from forensic experts and what clients need in high-stakes disputes. His arrival significantly strengthens our national offering, and we are delighted to welcome him to Opus.”
Paul Widger comments: “I’m excited to be joining Opus Forensic Accounting at a time of continued growth for the firm’s forensic accounting practice. Opus has built a strong national reputation for high-quality expert work, and I look forward to developing the Manchester offering while working closely with colleagues across the UK – particularly the firm’s established restructuring teams, where forensic accounting input is often critical to achieving the right outcomes for clients.”
Paul and Carolyn joined Opus Forensic Accounting on 1 April 2026.
