Charity Skydive for Harry’s Rainbow

On Sunday 28th of July, the Opus team, Trev Binyon and Phil Norvell, set off for the skies of Cambridgeshire to take on the daunting challenge of jumping out of a plane from 15,000 feet. Trev and Phil took on this extreme fundraising challenge to raise money for Harry’s Rainbow.
Harry’s Rainbow is a bereavement charity that provides support exclusively to children in Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas who have experienced loss in their young lives. The charity does not receive any government or statutory funding, they rely on the generous support of their local community of individuals and businesses to continue their work.

All for Harry’s
I am on top of the world looking down in wonder
To jump out of a plane way up in the sky
For Harry’s Rainbow, what a great cause
For families that have suffered a loss
Trev goes first and I am to follow
My heart is thumping and my mouth is dry
I shuffle to the door with my tandem instructor
And follow the drills he taught me this morning
One intake of breath and I’m out of the door
With the drag chute deployed to slow our descent
My nerves fall away as we free fall to earth
The main chute opens, what a relief
I start to relax and take in the view
Ely Cathedral bathed in sunlight, a magnificent sight
The Wash in the distance sparkling so bright
I lift my legs and land on my rear
And I’m happy and proud of what I’ve achieved
My instructor unhooks me and gives me a hug
And congratulates me on a feat well done
But my legs are like jelly from the adrenaline rush
And must wait an hour for the feeling to ebb
Before I can drive home to the family I love.
